About

Meet Laurel Evans Smith

With nearly three decades in interior design, my practice at Crow's Perspective merges commercial innovation with residential sophistication, building on an early career in fashion merchandising that refined my eye for composition and emerging trends.

Our commercial portfolio merges bold functionality with artistic innovation. Working with our team, including Design Institute alumna Amanda Dowell, we create environments that challenge conventions through unexpected materials and forms. Our residential work transforms homes into living galleries where heritage and contemporary design intersect through custom furnishings and crafted details. This approach extends to our ADU projects, proving that thoughtful design elevates compact spaces.

My approach begins with listening—understanding not just functional needs but the subtle rhythms of daily life that inform truly successful spaces. This insight guides our selection of unexpected material combinations and innovative finishes, creating environments that surprise and inspire while remaining intrinsically livable.

Beyond design, I find inspiration in art, architecture, and travel, balancing my professional practice with hip hop dance at Culture Shock San Diego and advocacy work supporting racial equity and animal welfare initiatives—pursuits that continually enrich my understanding of design's potential to foster positive change.
